Amazing Procedure - Why It’s So Popular
The Pinhole Surgical Technique is a non-invasive procedure to repair gum recession. Uses a needle to make a small hole in the tissue above the affected tooth or teeth. Using special instruments are guide gum tissue (gingiva) until it once again covers the root surface of the tooth.
There is very little swelling, very little pain, and the pinhole closes within 24 hours. Most patients require only over-the-counter pain relievers, and often just one dose.
Because the Pinhole Surgical Technique is non-invasive and less traumatizing to tissue, we can treat multiple teeth, even an entire mouth, in one appointment.
In contrast, gum graft surgery, the traditional treatment for gum recession, requires taking gum tissue from the roof of the oral cavity, creating an incision along the gum line, inserting the gum graft, and suturing it closed. While this surgery is very successful, there can be considerable swelling or bleeding, and the gums may take up to two weeks to heal.
